I remember the ‘Y’ in Downtown San Dog (San Diego). It was old – school. Lot’s of ‘interesting’ characters hung out there. I was just a simple sailor then an’ used to divide my time between the ‘Y’ and the titty bars in Downtown. Sometimes I would hum that old song, “Downtown’ by Petula Clark…. Happy memories for me. I met some strange people.
“When you’re alone and life is making you lonely
You can always go downtown
When you’ve got worries, all the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know, downtown”
Actually, when you are twenty-eight. Everything is free and easy.
I have good memories of hanging out with dope fiends, derelicts, sailors, and myself.
Those were good times.
I was young and bullet-proof.
🙂
Yet another reason to be glad I was not there then, Kerbey.

boy oh boy. And I second your “is that so.” The passenger is smiling big, so he must have had the Turkish bath experience as well.

Does a Turkish bath have anything to do with Turkish Taffy or Turkish Delight?

Don’t ask me; I do my own bathing.

Reminiscent of “Airplane” – 1980:
Captain Oveur says: “Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?”

Totally what I thought. I almost put an Airplane meme right after it, but thought it would make it surely less classy. And don’t call me Shirley.

Yes, well, “less classy” never stopped me from posting. Shirley.

Plenty of room at the Hotel Continental. It may or may not be due to the Turkish baths.
