Someone has to do this:
Seventy-six trombones led the big parade, with 110 cornets close at hand. They were followed by rows and rows of the finest virtuosos, the cream of ev’ry famous band.
Seventy-six trombones caught the morning sun, with 110 cornets right behind.
There were more than a thousand reeds springing up like weeds. There were horns of ev’ry shape and kind. (doo-doo-doo-doo)
There were copper bottom tympani in horse platoons, thundering, thundering all along the way. Double-bell euphoniums and big bassoons, each bassoon having its big, fat say!
There were 50 mounted cannon in the battery, thundering, thundering louder than before. Clarinets of ev’ry size and trumpeters who’d improvise a full octave higher than the score!
Not quite Oliver, but just about as close behind as those cornets. Love this musical and love being reminded by your post. Thanks!
In 6th grade choir, we only had to memorize the first stanza. Look at you, getting your Music Man on. I hope you were marching as you typed this, impossible as it may seem.
Somebody needs to give the guy in the bowler a tambourine or triangle or something. Is a lousy recorder too much to ask? He needs an instrument, dammit!

does marching in your head count? Marion the Librarian is such a lovely literary phrase, don’t you think? Like Kerbey at the Derby.

Except for Leeann who is a husband stealing hussy according to the Enquirer.

Ew, I don’t like that kind of RIMES. Husband-stealing hungry has-been hussies are not my cup of tea.

Right? Even short people can work a triangle with their little stubby fingers. Such rampant prejudice!
