There were more than a thousand reeds springing up like weeds. There were horns of ev’ry shape and kind. (doo-doo-doo-doo)
There were copper bottom tympani in horse platoons, thundering, thundering all along the way. Double-bell euphoniums and big bassoons, each bassoon having its big, fat say!
There were 50 mounted cannon in the battery, thundering, thundering louder than before. Clarinets of ev’ry size and trumpeters who’d improvise a full octave higher than the score!
Not quite Oliver, but just about as close behind as those cornets. Love this musical and love being reminded by your post. Thanks!
In 6th grade choir, we only had to memorize the first stanza. Look at you, getting your Music Man on. I hope you were marching as you typed this, impossible as it may seem.
Somebody needs to give the guy in the bowler a tambourine or triangle or something. Is a lousy recorder too much to ask? He needs an instrument, dammit!
