Down A County Road, Part II
As I continued down the county road, I passed these signs. The bluebonnets were still hanging on. They usually disappear by tax day, April 15.
There were seas of them.
A storm had possibly split the trunk of this chinaberry tree.
And mesquite trees dotted the land.
But my favorite picture of all showed the shade cast by the limbs of a mighty live oak.
Happy trails to you!
The Wheels On The Bus
Did you spend hours on a school bus each dreadful morning and liberated afternoon with friendly-faced drivers such as these? Or were your drivers a little touched in the head? Did your buddies shoot spitballs at the back of said heads?
Recognize these faces? Surely they wouldn’t cause any trouble.
No rebellious nature in these well-behaved young men.
The 1941 students appear much more welcoming. All aboard!
Oops! Caught them mid-embrace!
Buses allowed downtime to chill with your pals.
Perhaps you were on a sports team and took a chartered bus. I can’t say as I ever did that.
And after all these years, they keep rolling.

Scenes From Hot Springs
Today’s overcast sky and drop from yesterday’s record 80 degrees to today’s mid-40s reminds me of similar weather during our November Hot Springs, Arkansas visit. Sometimes an overcast sky can make for a peaceful, placid picture. Until the geese get moving, that is.
The view of downtown as we rounded a hill proved cozy and charming, white steeple hidden in the clouds.
Autumn leaves littered the streets, where a green banner proclaimed a Chili Cook-Off, of which we later partook.
And further down on Bathhouse Row, we stopped for a cold craft beer, a refreshing end to the day.
Braniff Airways Special
What a lucky group of students, off to fly the friendly skies in 1951.
But what’s going on here? Such eye-catching colors, he can’t help but be distracted.

Braniff had some great non-sexist ads as well. Check out the colors and the artwork on these!

Aren’t those fun? I could look at travel posters for hours. Maybe I will.

November Respite
Last week, we vacationed in Hot Springs, Arkansas, renting a lakeside home that allowed for this beautiful sunrise shot. Sunlight soon spilled over the back deck.
Tuesday morning was a different story; the sky was overcast, and ducks floated past the fog at dawn.
It lent a nice ethereal quality to the morning.
No matter the weather, we tried to abide by the sign.
