Citizens of Denton, Texas had several choices when it came to cabs in the 1940s. The men below were all licensed taxi drivers for City Cab.
They could even carry your luggage for you.
Dixie Cabs had the recognizable logo on the side. All you had to do was pick up the phone and dial 45 for service.
For a more rugged crew, you might consider the fellows at 2100 Cab, right next to the Sinclair station. They kept their fleet shiny.
Happy cabbing!
People don’t use cabs so much now. Now we have Uber and Lyft. Just not the same

I’ve never used one of those before. Have you?

No I haven’t. It sounds like hitch hiking with a fee.

Can you imagine trying to explain Uber and Lyft to these guys back then? Well, it’s an app…huh?… (Frequent Uber and Lyft user here!)

Or explaining it to them in 2005 lol, before smartphones. Oh, how the world has changed in our lifetimes! So do you like the rating system? Do you worry about hygiene in their cars? I wipe down grocery carts, so I’m that person.

So far all my experiences have been positive. Nice drivers in nice cars and super convenient. I think it depends on your location.
