I don’t think those kids would get a block now a days. Which begs the question. Are we, as a society more caring that 60 years ago or are we more distrustful of our kids? Maybe we are jaded enough to know that if something bad can happen it probably will. Any way, those two guys are a couple of lucky fellows.
Texting surely is worse than no seatbelts, but I’ve always worn seatbelts, so I never take the chance. My son walks two blocks to the bus stop each morning, and I peek out every couple of minutes to make sure he’s okay. Of course, our daily news shows robbery, murder, kidnapping, the child sex trade, so we do live in constant fear. Just a few days ago some whackjob downtown started firing upon the police dept and the Mexican consulate. Fortunately, an officer holding a horse’s reins in one hand used his other to pop a cap in his side and lay him out at 60 yards. I do like when justice is served so quickly.
I read about that shooting incident. I know things are a lot more dangerous now than they were even 30 years ago. My 57 Chrysler had seat belts so I got used to them real early. When I see someone on a phone in traffic I wish I could pull them over and crush the phone. As for the whackjobs I am a strong believer in CC. The last few years it’s been a Ruger. Keeping it simple.
Are they perhaps getting ready for a parade, Kerbey? Because I think not that they’d barrel down the tree-lined streets of 1950s Austin in that formation otherwise.
Why? I see truckfulls of men in the backs of pick up trucks weekly. Like a dozen. Perhaps they had an open campus and were headed out to lunch to drink 2 oz of Coke?

I just read another account about the Austin fool. In that post it said the shot was made from 312 feet. Damn that was one hell of a shot.

That’s what our police officer at church said. He was in the building when the windows started crashing from bullets. Good aim.

The cop? All I know is the perp had a semi-automatic and some propane tanks in his car. Weird, right?
