Thanks! Yes, that’s a good point about the zoos. We watch zoo programs on Animal Planet and while they aren’t in their natural element, they do have access to antibiotics and splints and constant food sources and warmth and live long lives. And what a treat for kids and adults who never would see them otherwise!
We had machines that you walked in a pushed a button down. When you pushed down all the ones you wanted to vote for you pulled a lever that opened a curtain and it also recorded your votes.

I saw a real live lion when our zoo opened in Indy in 1963. Anywhere else a 13 year old would see one he would have to worry about becoming dinner.
