Now THIS is a party! Colored lampshades, white tuxes, bobbed silver hair, moonlight at sea…
Most folks weren’t having a great 1933. While the unemployment rate reached an ungodly 25%, the idea of enjoying the luxury of an offshore cruiser was largely unattainable. But perhaps you could win the affection of a ruddy-complected captain.

Not only were the tuxes white but they were short waisted. A true sign of your wealth and style or that you were a waiter. Nice poster. Goes well with your blue background. Shame our ads can’t be so classy.

I first thought “Gatsby” but that was circa 1925 and the ad is 1933. Same year that construction started on the Golden Gate bridge and Hitler became Chancellor. But hey, if you’re a yachtsman, no worries.

It does look Gatsby. Sounds like 1933 was a pretty rough year.
