  1. I didn’t know Cosmo was that old. The Duke on the cover is also surprising. I just realized that CD’s are like vinyl albums, only smaller. Well ain’t that a kick in the head.

  2. Benson, I want to give you a kick in the head for mixing up albums and 45s. Come on old man, think back! I know you had both, just like I did. Big hole, 45. One song a side. Single. Little hole. Six songs a side. Album. But, like you, I too was taken aback by the John Wayne cover of Cosmopolitan. Katherine Hepburn, maybe.

    1. I’m not mixing them up I was just lamenting the loss of 45’s and vinyl albums when I realized that CD’s are like vinyl. Small like a 45 but LP. Well it made sense in my head anyway. And they don’t have any holes and they come in cases that I always have trouble opening.

      1. I was just giving you some guff because there are so few of us left who went through the 45 and album stage, my friend.

And, yes, the CD cases are a nightmare to pry open, I agree. A ballpeen hammer solves the problem for good, Benson.

      2. Good. I was afraid it was just me. Gonna’ try the hammer solution next time. Actually I don’t mess too much with CD’s anymore. I use this magic known as Amazon Cloud. I give them money and they give me music, and I can just sit on my duff. But don’t you miss the album covers?

      3. The album covers were both great art and easy to your albums out of, Benson, although, I bet you agree that sometimes those paper sleeves inside the album covers got to be a pain.

Yes, album covers should be in museums even more than they are. Equal thought and preparation went into the album cover art as the music for the great ones, with an art and design team.

      4. Did y’all ever put an album ON TOP of another album on a record player? I recall seeing people do that, and I wondered why they couldn’t just remove the first one.

  3. When I was a child living with my parents, we’d stack up a bunch of LPs on the turntable and then not have to deal with them for quite a while. Plunk, plunk. Probably wasn’t too good for them.
