That made me laugh out loud. I still have relatives that freak out about the cost of long distance calls, even thought its now flat rate.
And the station to station calling cracked me up. I guess they wanted to give the harried operators some down time. It’s interesting they don’t mention party lines.
It really doesn’t seem that long ago when I think about phone bills I got as recently as the 90s, calling my ex who lived only TWO HOURS away, and it was outrageous!
It wasn’t that long ago. And those bills were outrageous. I had a bill once where I was charge $4.57 per minute calling someone in the mid-West. Had to cut back on the grocery bill that month.
