Several years ago, we visited the little town of Dublin, Texas, which housed a 122-year-old bottling company that produced Dr Pepper with cane sugar. Every visitor received a free sample bottle to taste.
Since then, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group acquired the rights to the Dublin Dr Pepper franchise and closed down shop. Now the renamed Dublin Bottle Works makes its own unique sodas, including sweet peach and rummy grapefruit. But the Dr Pepper has disappeared, along with all of the memorabilia. Little did we know, that frosty D.P. was the last we’d drink in little Dublin. Nothing stays the same.
And yes, it was like seeing the opening to Laverne & Shirley.
I Don't Get It 
Wasn’t Dr. Pepper originally marketed as a laxative? That could create some uncomfortable conditions if they were handing them out at the same time to, say, a school group, the ladies’ knitting society or a bunch of bikers fresh from the taco eating contest.

Hmm. Not that I know of. I thought a pharmacist in Waco concocted it. I have heard that it had prunes, but that’s an old wive’s tale. In any case, it is always best to drink pure battery-acid killing Coke, like I do.

Well that is bummer about the Dr. Pepper not being there anymore, but at least it still sells cool flavours under a different name. I love unique sodas, so yummy…well sometimes. 🙂

I just wish fancy sodas were cheaper! I used to love Clearly Canadians 20 yrs ago, but so pricey! Did Canadians even drink that?

I always liked Dr. Pepper. Try it as a mixer with Jack. I hardly drink soda pop any more but when I do it’s Mexican Coke or Jarritos. I like real sugar.

I mean they had the real Dr. Pepper and they sell out for, let go back up to make sure I have this right, er, sweet peach and rummy grapefruit. Hardly seems like those two could surpass the good doctor in sales. What in the heck is a rummy grapefruit soda anyway? Fresca gone rogue?
I drink diet soda, and as far as that goes, Diet Dr. Pepper tastes frighteningly like the real thing. So I take offense at the change in Dublin, muchly.
