Let’s get hip. Back in the 40’s and 50’s alreet was hip slang for really all right,or cool,or far out or awesome. So the school girl was just talkin’ jive. I think that little cartoon is alreet with a syncopated beat.
When I arrived back in Texas (Winnsboro) back in ’69, all the brown book covers we were given touted the wonders of Rural Electrification. I was confused, as we had some electricity in MY house.
😉
Couldn’t even find a copywriter who could rhyme a real word in a power company ad with beat. Ah, let’s see, did they think of maybe trying … HEAT?!

Reddy Kilowatt is right on the beam! Wait, wrong decade?

No, they’re both ads from 1947, so same decade. Anyway, that makes a lot more sense than this ad!
