Great post. I am geriatric enough to remember snack bars. Drive ins. A great place for a date or for a bunch of guys to hang out. The food really wasn’t all that good, and yet I liked it anyway. That video is priceless. I miss drive ins. There were a few still in Indy when my kids were little. I wonder how they remember them?
My 8-year-old deemed the videos “creepy.” lol how times change.
I like the swank of the ticket booth sparkle. Bling bling. My first thought at your title was Robin Sparkles from How I Met Your Mother: Let’s All Go to the Mall.
Dueling retro clips, one real, the other fudged by a sitcom. I go for the butter stick, Kerbey, geriatric that I am with Drive-In-Enjoyer fifth down on my resume. Culbie Smothers as Robin as Sparkles as Tiffany/Debbie Gibson, now that’s creepy, Liz.

It was a mark of passage the first time you departed the drive-in with the speaker still hanging on your car window.

Like I didn’t know that by “Tiffany” I meant “Debbie Gibson.” *Liz hangs head in shame*

The Snack Bar — flat soda, cheap hot dogs, and stale Raisinettes– the prefect place to meet girls.

The lady in that first picture looks so much like my sister it’s scary.
