Did we perceive color differently 2500 years ago? Don’t know, but I like both expressions. So if white water is rapidly moving thrashing about water is black water deep and unmoving?
I admit I’ve never seen a “wine dark sea.” Then again, I’ve never seen purple rain. I guess the clear water looks white when frothy and black when placid. So you’re right!
