Eisenhower defeated Democratic presidential nominee Adlai Stevenson II (there are actually four) in both the 1952 and 1956 elections, due to attitudes like this.

This makes our current political arena look a little less crazy, but wishing for normalcy. Sort of like an oxymoron, Kerbey, huh?! 🙂

They also called Stevenson an egg head because, you know, we wouldn’t want an intellectual to be President. Maybe things haven’t changed much.
