Post-Op Day 3

My husband had unexpected triple bypass surgery on Friday, and today he had healed up enough to ambulate throughout the cardiac unit. He has progressed well after his coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), and this acronym is why the nurses call them their “cabbage patients.” Here’s hoping you never have to be one.

    1. So glad to hear that! Then you understand the long road ahead of not driving and not lifting or pushing or pulling, sleeping on his back in a recliner etc. It’s a bit overwhelming.

  1. I’m very glad to hear he’s on the road to recover, Kerbey. Oh, my, what a time to discover it’s your time to become a cabbage patient. Hang in there, my friend. Tough on you, too, I imagine.

    1. Indeed. It’s exhausting on both sides, especially when you’re still in your forties and never anticipated this. I need Ellie B to come give me some dogs snuggles.

  2. Holey Moley that must have scared the crap out of you both; family too! I told you to take it easier on hubby. Just kidding. Glad to hear that he got through the procedure and is on the road to recovery which I hope is both full and speedy. That was a nice mountain view from his room.

    1. So many tall mountains! That is actually our highest peak. Maybe we will climb them when he is allowed to hike again. Not. I spent the day bringing him home, picking up a myriad of old people meds at CVS, heart-healthy grocery shopping, wiping everything with Clorox, soaping produce, cleaning, making meals. I am definitely not feeling AJF, but BWF today.
