This happy family is full of love, but they aren’t muskrats. These are.
Chubby little things, aren’t they?
“Muskrat Love” was a love song from the bicentennial year, which peaked at #4 with the Captain & Tennille’s version. No, it doesn’t make any sense.
You can see below how the silliness seeped forth. Note Tennille’s pageboy bob, popular at the time.
While the song does not deserve a listen, the video is worth it, if not for Toni’s beautiful smile and rich voice–and Daryl’s absolutely wretched keyboard noises. Ultimately, love did not keep them together, and Daryl is no longer doing that to her one more time, but such is life. No?
Those are muskrats? I thought they were meerkats. I never did get “Captain and Tennille”. They were definitely children of the 70’s.

No, those aren’t muskrats. That’s why it’s not quite Muskrat Love.

Oh. I get it. Didn’t read the title correctly.

What is worse is that America also recorded it. I think it is on their a Greatest Hits album. That says something about the state of pop music in those days.

I read that but I’ve never heard their version. I like America, though.

The song bites but it’s no reason to fat shame the rodents.

I’m concerned with their proclivity to diabeetus and subsequent claw amputation.

I can understand that. They also get wicked neuropathy and then have to wear special socks. People Eating Tasty Animals wwould be so proud of us.

They can put it in their oft-vegan, furless pieholes. It’s important that muskrats don’t wake up at 3am with their heels burning. It feels like an entire arena of rockers holding their lighters under your feet. No rodent deserves that.
