Take One Down, Pass It Around

These young men may have been in the Lone Star State, but they were swilling brown bottles of the beer that made Milwaukee famous.

Schlitz may not be your first choice for ale, but they had some great ads back in the day.

The women above look surprised, but this gal looks downright mischievous.

And this one is great as an indicator of the era.

  1. Those were the old and sometimes good days. I remember Schlitz and all of those other beers that you could buy for a quarter. Those guys in the top photo look absolutely sappy. They must have reached their limit.

  2. I remember my Dad thinking Schlitz and Pabst Blue Ribbon were “cheap” or “affordable” beers. I agree, the one who listed, “Stroh’s” is probably part of the less expensive beers. Fun memories of the nostalgic advertising, Kerbey. 🙂 ❤

      1. Wiedeman’s, Hudepohl, Goebel’s, Iron City – all good bottom of the line brews. Drewery’s was the cheapest when I was in college. When beer prices went up, the price of Drewery’s went down.

      1. It was in reference to the leering Ham Radio guy. The ARRL is a network of amateur radio buffs who have a shortwave “grid” to use in case of large-scale emergencies. They’re cheap insurance, and “Field Day” is a test of sorts.

  3. so this is where your Q came from! Great pictures, all. The top one is especially silly at it is real! Where are the pictures of men bringing women a tray with beer and a nice glass?
