I’ve never been as far north as Wisconsin, and my only knowledge of Milwaukee is this:

But I loved that show and wanted to visit Milwaukee to see what all the fuss was about.

By the power of old National Geographic mags, I’ve learned it’s the home of original copper kettles at Pabst’s brewhouse.

I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but in Texas, PBR specials are rampant at bars and poolhalls. It’s oft times sipped ironically in tall boy cans by those with burly hipster beards, horn-rim glasses, and cuffed skinny jeans. But who can argue with these daily specials?

Oh, and sometimes this happens.

That defeats the purpose of keeping the ale chilled but surely it would woo all the single ladies.

However, let’s not forget it was Schlitz that made Milwaukee famous.

  1. Great pictures about a great topic. Beer and brats. I haven’t been to Milwaukee in years but I remember it as a city with old time bars on every corner. We have the same 2 buck PBR specials in Indy as well. Some joints offer a PBR tallboy and shot of Jim Beam for 5 bucks. Now that is dangerous. We also have out share of metrosexual lumberjacks as well. Unfortunately.

  2. I love Milwaukee. My husband and I travel there every few years when we go on a long road trip. Usingers sausage is wonderful and you can’t forget Widmer’s cheese to go with those brats and the beer.

    If you ever get to go, stroll down part of the river walk in downtown Milwaukee, it’s quite lovely. And don’t miss out on at least one brewery tour, but prepare yourself for a lot of heat. They really cook the stuff. 🙂

  4. I LOVE Milwaukee and go every year for the Germanfest that goes on in July which is still part of their summerfest programming. So of course we have beer and sausage at the event 🙂 I love beer but I hate all the big wig beer companies in Milwaukee. My hubby and I tend to frequent the craft breweries for better tasting suds. Here in Toronto Pabst is very popular with the hipsters and I’m not sure why, it tastes like water. Maybe that is why it is cheap 🙂
