Fun fact: “The Iceman Cometh” has a different connotation for me than most. It gets me to think about LeRoy Irvin’s verse in the delightfully strange “Ram It” song the 1985 (1986?) LA Rams made back in the day:
“The Iceman cometh, LeRoy is the name,
I cover the field, interception’s my game,
I score more than anybody else on the D,
Cause I move like a cat as you will see.”
Please please please help me replace the knowledge of 1980’s football team song lyrics with medical knowledge, and I’ll be a happier fella (I think??? Those songs definitely do make me happy.)
As a lover of the 80’s and throwbacks, you’ll enjoy this one. They’re all so good, but Ram It and The Superbowl Shuffle are my favorite offerings from that fantastic era of 1980’s musically-and-charitably-inclined football.
I remember “The Superbowl Shuffle, but I’d never heard this “Ram It.” It sounds like a rip-off of another song, but I can’t pin it. “Nobody likes ramming more than me…looking for the sack…” Wow.
Oh, it sounds just like the beginning to the Village People’s “Macho Man.” They keep repeating “body” the way the players repeat “ram it.” Either way, lots of testosterone.
Hahaha, the best part of Ram It is that their star player was future hall-of-fame running back Eric Dickerson, and they called him “Dick.” I think 31 years ago that was a more acceptable nickname than it would be now. Other than my boxing coach (a Kansas kid with a brother named Tom and who knows, maybe another bro named Harry), I don’t know of anyone under age 60 who goes by “Dick.” I think it’s better that way.

Truth. I think it was okay when the president was Dick Nixon, but I doubt we’ll have another one.
