I really miss the lunch counters that drugstores used to have. I know it doesn’t have anything to do with your pic but I do miss drugstore cheeseburgers.
Not quite the same as bowling alley cheeseburgers, huh? We do have one drugstore in Austin that still sells food at a counter but I don’t think I’ve eaten there.
I’ve never had a bowling alley cheeseburger before so I can’t compare. A drug store burger was cooked on a flat-top with the bun next to it so they both were greasy. Plus it was rare when I could buy one,so I am sure that increased my longing. I can’t think of any bowling alleys around here that sell food. I can’t believe you haven’t tried that drug store. Oh did you guys have Woolworths Drugs in Texas?
Yeah, we had Woolworth’s, but I haven’t seen one in a long time. All of our bowling alleys sell food–burgers, enchiladas, appetizers–all priced too high. I can see how not having that burger would increase the longing. Memories preserved in amber.
Yeah Woolworths went the way of the Soda jerk. You are so right about memories. That is my mission for the week. To find a bowling alley that sells food.
Hay Betty! .. Hey. Did you see The Texaco Station has an Ice cold whiskey machine? no, Look at my hand! I just used Palmolive! It makes your hands sooooo soft while washing them dishes..

When I first looked at the picture and saw the person outside the door, I thought the line for the counter went outside. 🙂
