When my first car, the 69 Chevy Nova, completely had the floor boards rust through, I could actually use a method very similar to this to stop my vehicle and save break pad wear, Kerbey. I could Flintstone it if I needed or wanted to with that dang car.
Ha! My first car was a hand me down 1967 Chevy II station wagon. i remember driving through a snow bank and having the snow come right in through the floor and filling the driver’s foot area. ha!

I had to finally get rid of the car, but not until the engine blew. I put some sheet metal over the floorboard hole and that worked for awhile.
