  1. I see he was measuring her with her shoes on and weighing her with her purse full of bricks. They say rations were bigger for those doing heavier work – but you know the human body will burn huge amounts of energy when you work it hard. I was recently reading an article on oil field workers in the Arctic. They use up to 12,000 calories a day doing heavy work outside in the snow. (compared to 1,800-2,000 for a normal male)

    1. That is more than Olympic swimmers like Michael Phelps burned. We were watching a BBC special on the Arctic last night and I just did not see the beauty there. Ice after ice after cold–not no way, not no how. They can keep that job. Although I do need to burn off the eggs and buttered toast I just ate…

  2. If my caloric intake was based on the work I do I would be hungry, bored and cranky all the time. I do work out at a gym though. At least 3 times per week. So that qualifies me for another piece of pie. Doesn’t it?
