If you’re one of those people who hasn’t watched SNL in years, you may want to do yourself a favor and check out this inspirational country parody called “Wishin’ Boot” from last night’s show, hosted by Blake Shelton. It helps if you’re familiar with Alan Jackson and Wynonna Judd.
Well I am one of the guys who hasn’t seen SNL in several years. That being said I may have to re evaluate after seeing “Wishing Boot”. It was pretty funny.

Been a long time since I’ve seen SNL. Is the skit on-line?

The links say they are not valid in Canada. We do get the show though but I didn’t see it.

Oh, I’m sorry, Paul. Well, there is no SCTV anymore, either, huh?

No, no SCTV. But they were classic. So much of this generation’s comedic talent came from SCTV. Amazing. Sometimes, out of the blue it seems that a critical mass of talent – often unrecognized – meets in one place at one time and explodes into the social consciousness. It happened with HBO as well in their production of new programming. SCTV was like that. Occassionally businesses will encounter this special effect as well. It is always so cool when it happens and so sad when they inevitably break up.
Oh, by the way – video owners who disallow viewing in Canada is quite common for American shows. Especially comedy shows. Not sure why. In all honesty, I’ve use public Canadian content videos in posts and found out they were not viewable in Europe or America. No doubt some kind of copyright protection.

Blake as AJ and the Reba and Wynonna sing-alikes are pretty great, Kerbey. Great vid for SNL, I agree. I’m a Blake fan from “The Voice,” too. He’s a funny dude.

I wouldn’t mind going to a party at his house. I would crack up for sure.

I laughed even though I don’t know too much about the folks they were portraying. Love that kind of skit, though, as it’s funny AND clean. SNL doesn’t always find that balance. Hilarious–thanks for sharing.

I could have done w/out the bleeping at the end. Things can be clean AND funny!

I missed the bleeping. Better rewatch. Usually, things are funnier when clean. Have to be genuinely funny when not falling back on crude.

Caught it this time. Funny clip.

Loved it. As one of the 9 country music fans in Honolulu, it was a great parody, catchy tune and did not miss a single cliche…except maybe a midnight train whistle.

I STILL have it in my head! I’m glad you loved it, too. My son brought me his boot, filled with beef jerky and candy.

That was not the wishing boot; that was a fake.

I watch SNL at least once a month since the comedy is still fairly clean, clever and hilarious. I laugh out loud, all by myself sometimes. I can usually get one of my grown kids to watch James Corden in his Car Karaoke parodies of silly things. Like last week, James had Allison Janney playing Julie Andrews and Anna Faris who plays her daughter on “Mom” played a Lonely Girl for the Lonely Goatherd. The boy from Young Sheldon would have joined the kids scene but his mother didn’t like him out in the street. They were doing the skits on crosswalks. 😀

I heard about that skit w/ Allison but I haven’t seen it yet. Corden’s car karaokes are always hilarious. I always wonder how he knows all the words to all the songs of all these different artists? He’s amazing.

For being a Brit he sure shows us how he likes American pop culture! Kinda like I was with the Beatles and Herman’s Hermits! Across the pond. .
